The
Wisconsin Electrical Trades Council, Inc. (WETC) was founded in 1956 at
Tomah, WI when the Monroe County Wiremen’s Association moved to expand
their organization to include a larger area and to offer support and
education for those who are employed in the electrical trade. The
membership consists of contractors, electricians, suppliers and
inspectors from all areas of Wisconsin ranging from Lancaster in the
south to Rhinelander in the North, Hudson on the west to Wausau on the
East. Business operations for the WETC are based in Wonewoc, WI even
though the Board of Directors, elected from the membership, are from
widespread areas of the state.
In
addition to offering free access to safety and training materials for
WETC members thought the year,
there is also a quarterly newsletter and an annual conference. Each year
in February the WETC sponsors a convention, alternating between Eau
Claire and Tomah, WI, with new product presentations, safety & business
seminars, a trade show and electrical code updates & training. The code
updates and training also provide those in attendance with CEU’s needed
to maintain certification as an electrician in the State of Wisconsin.
Then, just to make sure that things don’t get too serious, there is also
a Thursday evening banquet with entertainment and door prizes for
members.
